belly, blanket and backwards bbq

{is it just me or is that picture up there so blurry it hurts your eyes?}

27 weeks!

Due to my history of early babies, my doctor is concerned about the high risk of preterm labor. I'm not having any contractions and I'm not on bedrest... Just taking it easy, staying on-island, and adding omega-3 fish oil to my daily dose of vitamins. With no NICU/PICU on the island, Ian needs to stay put for another 10 weeks. Will y'all pray for my little guy?

{I still can't believe I'm mom to 4 boys! Eeeeeeeeeee!!!}

My little sis had her second child this past week-- Jude Christian.

I am *sniff sniff* and honored that they would make Christian part of his name. Just writing that out makes my eyes well up with tears. {Thank you, Lele and JRay.}

This is the first niece/nephew that I have not seen almost immediately after birth. :( Hence no pictures of him to share.

But I did get off my butt long enough to make him a cute little doggie baby blanket. Yay me!

{It's a good thing the pic up there is resized, lest ye have the desire to zoom in and see the uneven stitches and laughable attempt at mitering corners.}

Many of y'all are enjoying the cooler temps that come with November. While living in Guam is a beautiful experience, summer is the season that lasts all. year. long.

It's warm, humid, and breezy here... So when you are wishing for autumn and the need for s'mores arises (and you live in a condo with an electric stove and no yard), you do what you gotta do...

Gather your supplies...

A bit laughable but the results are still deliciously the same...

What is your favorite Fall treat?

And does anyone have any special tips or tricks for binding a quilt and getting those corners right?

yay! for bellies and boys and... bbq? I'm quite sure that term could not in anyway be stretched to cover a lighter toasted marshmallow... ;)

But I'm proud of your improvisation.
We can't get normal marshmallows here... well, normal ones that is. We have 'flavored' marshmallows... tropical flavor to be precise. um... yum? not.

oh well. :)

so are you gonna have that baby there? what do they call babies born in Guam... Guamos? Guamians? I'm an Oregonian, you're Texan... Siah is Peruvian... what will Ian be?

Amy, if you saw the final product of when *I* toast a marshmallow-- completely blackened all around!-- then you would definitely call it BBQ. :)

Ian will be a Guamanian. Our little island baby!

I love you Marshymallow! <3 J/K Couldn't resist. I love my marshmallows on the dark side. :) We use wooden skewers and the gas stove. :)

The crunch of fallen leaves under foot....although here in Dallas we had that all summer due to the drought! :)

Re. your quilt, duct tape? :) (I know you're impressed with my quilting knowledge!)

I'm on bedrest/taking it easy too because of high blood pressure - am at 38 wks though so they're not concerned about pre-term. Will be praying for you as I prop my feet up too - that God will give you grace and patience and that He will protect that sweet little guy you're carrying!

Hi Marsha Marsha,
You are beautiful - love your hair! Take good care of yourself and remember - the Mother of all boys works from "son up" to "son down"!

Oh this post is so precious! What is Ian's middle name? I'm so happy for ya'll <--yep, my hubby has influenced my speech!!

That blanket is so cute! Now I want to start quilting again! As for mitering corners, I learned a GREAT way about 5 years back that makes the corners so pretty... here is a youtube tutorial that gives the basic idea:

The only difference that I do, is to cut that first part that is sewed on at a 45 degree angle and start my stitching about an inch down. That way, when I come all the way around, I can easily tuck the end of the fabric into there and you will have trouble finding where the binding starts. This might make sense after watching the video, but if not, send me an email and I'll try to get some pics or something to explain better. :)

Much love to you and your family!
