We're home!!!

Thank y'all so much for your prayers!  We made it home last night and took the same easy route we took when we left-- no problems and no traffic...no gas either but we still made it home with 1/4 tank to spare.

Our house is just fine...just littered with pine needles, leaves and branches.  The roof and yard are going to take quite a while to clean up, especially with the 103 degree heat outside.    I'm not angry about it but the heat is so intense that you do feel like you're going to burn up!

Dh's parents made it to our house today...just in time for us to tell them that we were able to talk to someone at the sheriff's department who's daughter had been by their house earlier today (they leave just east of Jasper and just north of Beaumont).  It is still standing with no major damage...just a loss of a gigantic tree that fell to the side of the house and fence damage.  They are anticipating no water and electricity out there for at least a week so we will have some company for a while (pleasant company at least!).   They left our house after lunch today to see how their home fared and will be back tonight.

God is sooo good!  I just can't say it enough!  We certainly don't deserve all of these blessings and His guidance, but He give us more than we could ever hope for or dream of.  I really need to stop being amazed when He graciously answers our prayers...He's never failed us so why am I continually amazed?  We asked for safe and quick travel and He gave it to us...only 5 hours on the road, which is 30 minutes longer than it normally takes us.  We asked for Him to protect our home...and He did.  We asked for our friends to stay safe as they rode out the storm...every single one of them are fine and even have electricity!

I guess all I can say is THANK YOU, LORD for all of your blessings!

Okay, don't give me a lot of credit concerning the homemade bread thing. I cannot tell a lie - I use a bread machine!! You can't go wrong and it tastes so wonderful because even though you didn't go through the kneading and all that jazz yourself, it is still homemade! I highly recommend getting one! I actually have three of them! I bought the first one new, then found the second one at a yard sale and downloaded the book for it, and got the third one at a yard sale and it had a book. They all work great, but I have to say I prefer the one that makes a square or rectangle loaf rather than the round. However, I did win the ribbon using the round machine. It's just that the square loaf is so much easier to make a sandwich with! LOL Take care and get yourself a bread machine - your family will be amazed and it's so simple!! :o)

That all is well...isn't it awesome to see the power of God change things even when we think there is no alternative? it was supposed to be MUCH worse but his mercy endures and has the power to change even the wind :) what an awesome God we serve :)

I'm SO SO glad to hear that all is well for you and your family... I thought of you and yours, and sent up prayers, as soon as I heard that Rita was headed your direction. Praise the Lord!! Thanks for your kind words concerning Taba's letter.:) Yeah, they love those rubber band guns, but I'm finding rubber bands everywhere! Yeah, you've got plenty of time to make some LATER! Last year Chris made marshmallow guns with the kids, (out of pvc pipe, and they blow the mini-marshmallows out) and they are very cool, and *gentler*. :-)
