I walk into my bathroom tonight to find...

...my 6yo sitting on a stool with the clippers and giving himself a haircut.  WITH NO GUARD ON IT!!!  Of course he didn't start towards the bottom of his head but very close to the very top...  I couldn't help but laugh.  And then I tried to fix it but couldn't so I ended up shaving his entire head with no guard on at all but he's happy because he looks just like his daddy and now he will have to go on our vacation to the mountains of Tennessee with a cold noggin.  The end.

You handled that with such grace. I was yelled at when I cut all my hair off at that age. What's the use of that? It really IS a laughable thing! And cute to boot!

my son gave himself a reverse mowhawk. We had a church program the next day and in the process of cutting his hair the clippers broke. It was to late to find a hairdresser and this was before 24 hr walmart. It was to funny.

I hope your sons hair grows fast.

Glad he didn't cut himself!

My son has never taken scissors or clippers to his own head, but he did take the scissors to his little sister's head when she was just 2. She had cute little baby curls and he put a big chop in them!! I was so upset. I had to cut all her curls off to even it out. The curls never came back. : (

Seems like a right of passage. Just before leaving for vacation? Yeah, that sounds about right....lol. My youngest is the only one who hasn't done something of the sort...though once DH had a scare when DS was about your sons age. He walked by, TJ was in the bathroom, and he heard this buzzing....so he burst open the door thinking he had the clippers (His sister had already cut my DN's hair that week...) and there he sat on the toilet. Brushing his teeth - with his new elec. tooth brush...

Thankfully you don't have girls. When they do it it is much worse. All my kids have cut their hair but thankfully very minimally. Have fun on your trip. By the way- what are all the letters you type on the bottom of your comment on JenIg's blog? Several people do it and I have no idea what it means. Is it a private thing? I'm not very literate withcomputer/blog abbreviations and such.

One time my then 6yo girl (she is 9 now) wanted to fix my hair. Well she started fixing it and then said she would be right back. I was not paying attention, as I was reading at the time, she had went to get the scissors!!! She never did cut any hair, thank goodness I caught her in time. She told me she was just going to cut "a little bit" to make it look pretty. YOWZERS.... so funny now

PS... Marsha, do you live in Lake Worth TX? That is where I grew up!! I am in Lubbock TX now though...

LOL - having boys is such an exciting thing, isn't it?!! They are always thinking of these things to do that just are so "boyish"!!! I'm glad it came out okay - you'll have to go to WalMart and get him a beanie - I think that's what my son calls it. You know, those things all the guys think are so hip and cool - I only know that Toby Keith wears one. Is he hip and cool? Hmmm. . . . I like him, but I'm not hip and cool, so don't know what this means. Okay, need to go to bed - I'm rambling and not making sense. Have a great week!!
