What is it with the fascination of the forbidden, especially for toddlers?
Well, my littlest man had his first birthday this past Saturday... ...so I guess that means he's a toddler now instead of a baby--even if he doesn't quite walk yet (although he's taken a couple of steps recently). Anyway!!! It began this morning. I was walking to the kitchen when I heard the merry sounds of splashing water.
Hmmmmm??? I shouldn't be hearing water splashing. No one is taking a bath right now...and the big boys are in the living room...
I see that the bathroom door is open and my littlest man is up to his ELBOWS in toilet water!!! YUCKY-PUCKY-GROSS toilet water!!! He'd thrown the toilet bowl brush onto the other side of the bathroom and then proceeded to dunk the toilet brush holder in and out of the toilet! Ewwww...wet almost-a-baby covered in toilet water... I cannot begin to describe how gross that is...and I pray that he only threw the toilet brush and did nothing else with it or to it...
So I scooped him up and anti-bacterial soaped him.
Then a couple of hours later he was once again playing in the forbidden fountain. *sigh* That boy will never learn...and the bigger boys keep forgetting to keep the door shut.
Ewwww....you know, make that double-ewwwww...and DON'T tell my mom because she would totally freak out!
I'm telling your mom, I'm telling your mom...
Jacob also like to play in the toilet. Don't know why...he just does. I think they make lid locks.. the only thing is, i think that would create a problem for the person who REALLLLLLLYYYYY has to go. KWIM?
*snort* kadfdfsjdjdfsj. Can't help it....I'm cracking up at this one! Gotta love those adventurous babies. :)
Well I don't have good news for you. My son is almost 2 and is still playing in the toilet. He thinks it's the funniest thing!!! Sometimes my 3 yod will join him. I'm not sure when this facination will end. I'm hoping soon. I'm with you, YUCK!!!!!
I had one of those toilet lovers. In fact it was common to see her whole leg in it. Yuck! and double yuck!
:-D Thanks for the witty and hilarious post. (Yes, I know, it's hilarious to me because *I* didn't have to scrub the little guy down with antibacterial soap!)
I guess I can't give you too much of a hard time because I'm pretty sure my time is coming soon. Right now Benjamin likes to just bang on top of the toilet seat and I don't have 2 other little men to forget to shut the bathroom door.
I can't post and NOT give you a little bit of hard time though. You KNOW that he at least chewed on that toilet brush some before he realized it didn't taste very good and threw it across the bathroom. :)
I love you Marshy.
i tried to post on your tag-board but it kept sending me to a flag poster website....weird you might try checking out your code :) anyhooo...good morning to ya
this soooo reminds me of the time i was watching my nephew and he thought it would be a great idea to physically stand in the toilet....(and he's such a booger i actually thought about flushing him "down")
I am laughing (are you laughing yet?) WITH you!
I had a very similar experience with our oldest when she was about the same age. I walked in to find her with the seat of the potty up and completely SITTING IN - *INSIDE* - the potty!
No one writes books about THIS stuff, do they?
Hello! I like your blogger! My sister likes to swim alot! I will add you to my list! You can vist my sisters blog www.homeschoolblogger.com/sawyer! Bye baby!
Wow...almost like a science experiment on HIS level! :))
All about pushes, pulls and water!
He's in learning mode...with the comode!
I was really chuckling as I read this today!
I needed a good laugh.
Yup, I have heard many stories very similar. It is a mom-initiation thing. Get one of those lock thingies so they don't fall in headfirst though!!!!!
My youngest son was always doing something like that. One day he decided to wash the dog with baby oil. Of course, he was coated with it, the entire bathroom was slick and shiny, and the dog never has looked better!!!
Hey, I posted another photo of my daughters creation, with her hat and purse she made. Come by and see!
BTW - I meant to meantion that they DO sell toilet locks...and it is really fun to see the expressions on guests' faces when they have to make a u-turn out of the potty to ask you to unlock it for them. We were tempted ;-) to make it a "pay potty"!
...hmmm...ya know...we don't need them for the girls now, but we could always use a good laugh - maybe we'll buy some potty locks for this house!
I have to admit, your story has a much bigger "ick" factor than mine!
And a warning - once we secured the potty, the NEXT time I heard splashing, I went in to find dd sitting completely IN THE sink (can't believe she was ever that small!) with the water running all over her AND everywhere else!
Maybe you could just get a lock for the whole bathroom?!
I was reading this and the comments w/ my dh and he thought I said "little logs" when someone referred to "lid locks." (talk about yuck! I don't EVEN wanna think about little logs and toilet water!
Did you swish his mouth with Listerine, just in case?
When my 3rd-born son was just past his first birthday, we had a similar experience. We were at my parents' house and suddenly realized Jesse was missing. We searched the whole house and finally found him in the bathroom with the door shut, and sitting inside the toilet with his diaper off. Apparently he wanted to go swimming!
Blessings ~ Diane
That really is gross! Mine never had a fascination with the toilet...just the toilet paper. And now I have a kitten with a toilet paper fascination! LOL
Happy Birthday to your little guy!
Gross, but too cute! He just prob. wonders what all the fuss is about. Everyone else gets to go in there ;-)
