A poll if you please

Coie's Almond War got me thinking about cinnamon gum...

I have to admit to all of you that I was in the band from middle school through high school.  If any of you were fellow band nerds, then you must have spent at least a little bit of time in a practice room.  Now, practice rooms stink.  They stink like old spit that dried on the floor (which is the reality of practice rooms since stinky brass instrument players empty their stinky spit valves onto the floor).  Or the smell that is produced when someone sneezes really big (like my dad always did!).

Anyhow, my sisters and I have discussed this before and have all come to the conclusion that cinnamon gum is not our favorite.  Why???  Well, because when chewed it emanates an odor reminiscent of previously said practice rooms.  In other words, it stinks like spit.

So what say you, fellow bloggers?  Please, please take my poll so I can find out once and for all if my siblings and I are normal or just the craziest people on the planet (next to JenIG, of course!).  Oh and ignore the extra long and skinny poll box as I'm lucky to just get that thing posted!

Band nerd, present and accounted for! Not only that, but I was in the (shhh!) drum line! eewwhhh! Just for part of high school, though! Carried the bass drum before the flags and rifles called me out of the depths of practice room heck!

Gotta say, I kinda miss it--in a sick twisted kinda way! :) My ONLY homeschool sorrow (that my kids won't get THAT pleasure--actually, that's probably a GOOD thing, come to think of it! :))

Not only was I the top band nerd of my class, but I have absolutely NO IDEA what you are talking about! I do get slightly woozie if I get a whiff of the hot, sweaty, breathy insides of my husband's tuba, and I totally detest practice rooms and all the nasty goobergifts flung on the wall, but in this case, I cannot agree with you!

Cinnamon gum ROCKS!

You crack me up! I"m sorry I haven't been by lately to visit. I thought I'd fall of my chair when I read your blog about the shower, the candy bars, the diapers and flinging the pacifiers! I cannot wait till someone I know gets pregnant...gee...I'll even throw a shower for a remote aquaintance just to play those games :) Do you remember that licorice was in a white and black about Teaberry gum? I've never pondered the cinnamon spells like spit question...hmmm. I wasn't a band nerd...just a nerd.

cinnamon gum smells like spit? I hadn't given it much thought. Funny how smells can trigger memories.

Ummmmm, I married the guy I went to my third prom with. ; ) Silly girl! Still, I don't want to even think about the other creep I went to my second prom with! The first prom I was a drink server. If you volunteered to serve at the prom as a sophmore then you got free tickets to prom the following year. I wanted to help my future date in any way I could! To bad it was spent on the second prom date and not the third!

Hi Marsha

I have to say that I have never tasted cinnamon gum but as I hate both cinnamon and chewing gum I am going to have to agree with you.

Since I have had my children my sense of smell has gone completely doolally so I can almost smell that particular odour just thinking about it.

Have a great week

Love Deb

Well, I was a band nerd (so was Bobby....that's where we met.) But I don't chew gum, so I am not voting because it's not really fair to call you a weirdo just because I have no idea what you are talking about. LOL.

I just had to comment on this one! I'm not sure about the gum smell thing, but I can attest to the icky scented band rooms. I did it in middle school, and I'm still horrified by the mouth piece's of instruments. They are just disgusting. I have a complete aversion to them. Especially the wood reed things for clarinets. Just vulgar. All that spit... Okay, enough of the complaining. I get a bit ocd over this.... My girls will probably want to play one of those things! At least they sound nice ;)
