Another reason I love him...and other stuff

I thought it was bad when I dropped my cell phone in my boys' bathtub... I suppose my dh didn't want to make me feel too bad about the whole incident, so he took his cell phone for a little ride yesterday.  Yup, placed his expensive Trio cellphone in the cupholder of the riding lawnmower and mowed the front yard.  It's a very big yard.  It's a very bumpy, non-level yard.

Can you guess what happened???

You guessed it!  There will be NO resurrection of his phone!  No sirreeeeeeebobrooney!  It is now a very expensive fertilizer for the front yard...or we can use it as confetti for my sister's upcoming baby shower.  I'm sure there are a million uses for the millions of pieces of his cell phone!  teeheheheeeee... I'm trying really hard to not hold this over his head for the next....oh, say...three years or so.  Too bad it had all of his contact numbers, flight logbook, etc. on it that was not backed up.  Lesson learned, right?  Do NOT mow the lawn without your cell phone securely fastened.  And do NOT yell at the children in the bathtub while pointing at them with your cellphone.

On another note, check out the winners of the Show & Tell Contest courtesy of Gena-bena and crazy JayfromCleveland.

And does anyone have any idea what THIS is?!

Okay, I really gotta go now.  We are heading out of town to Oklahoma City and actually (gasp!) driving there.   By the way, anyone know any good baby shower games?  I'm the official gamemaster (which is a total joke if you know me) and have two games lined up.   Personally, I am not a shower game kind of person but one of my sisters has some muy bueno prizes and party favors of the non-baby variety.  Actually, she works for MAC Cosmetics in NYC and is bringing us some loot from there! :-)

Anyway, the two games I have lined up are:

The one where you melt a candybar on a diaper and people have to guess what it is.  It is HILARIOUS to see people sniffing brown stuff on a diaper...especially when the older ladies from church wrinkle their nose and get really close!  hehehe...

The other one is baby food with the labels taken off and people have to guess what kind of baby food it is.

So I need at least one more game.  Anyone, anyone???  I'd prefer not to do the "don't say baby" or toilet paper games...definitely not my favorite.

Have a great Easter weekend, my friends!

Love,

Marsha

I cannot help with baby shower games because I hate them and have vowed to never participate in them again unless held at gunpoint. So it would go against my moral fiber to come up with any for other people to play. :o)

I hope you have a good trip....and my your dh's cell phone rest in peace. LOL

hate to hear that about dh's phone. Don't hold it over his head for toooooooo long. :-D

When do you need to have the shower games by? I was the game master a couple of years ago, and I have a bunch of them. Let me dig some out. One of my favorites is have them put a paper plate on their head and draw a picture of a baby. You get some really uh...interesting drawings! LOL

We will be here for Easter, but we are planning camping trip in the next few weeks. (We have to take our new pop-up camper for a test run.) We've actually had school in there a couple of times. the kids love it!

Hope you have a great trip!

My husband used to carry his palm phone in his shirt pocket...until he bent over to flush one of those "POWER" toilets and down it went! Yeah...we still bug him to death over that one! I dropped mine in though, about a year after he did (no flushing though. Mine dried out to work again like yours did! There was nothing but germs in the toilet, thank heaven. Clorox wipes are my best friend!

For the shower--thought not a game, my favorite game rebellion is to pass around a blank book (several times around) and have everyone write their best parenting wisdom, book recommendations, etc. It makes a great keepsake, too!

Have fun on your trip!

Hope I'm not to late with my idea. As far as I know, I invented this game, I call it Nuk Chuck. (Nuk is a brand of pacifier.) You will need a long sheet of paper, like butcher paper. Enough cheapo pacifiers for every person at the party. (for anyone who may read this for a later idea you can have the guests bring their own and give a little prize for those that did) You will also need a measuring tape.

Tape the paper to the floor at one end and roll it out a good distance. Mark off distances on the paper.

To play - Each guest places the pacifier in their mouth, stands at the starting point and then spits it as far as they can. Someone will need to mark where it landed with the initials of the guest. The mother-to-be then picks up the pacifier and places it back into the guests mouth. The guest gets three tries to spit their pacifier the farthest.

The one that spits the farthest wins!

This game is fun and gives that first time mother-to-be a taste of what's to come!! I've had this played at several baby showers and it was always enjoyed.

The one where you take a piece of yarn and have everyone guess how big around mommy is. This can really be funny, maybe even insulting, but she's your sister so it's alright-LOL! It is fun though:)

God Bless,

Hi Marsha!

I have two ideas for you. One is to read a list of animals and everyone has to write down the correct name of their babies (ex: baby lion is a cub, baby elephant is a calf) You can put some really hard ones in there to make it challenging. The person with the most correct wins. Being a homeschooling mom, I really liked this one because I left the shower having learned something :)

Another game that was pretty fun is making play-doh babies. You get a partner. One of you makes the baby with the play-doh. The catch, your eyes are closed. Your partner guides you by giving you instructions as to where to put the body parts, etc. The last shower I went to I actually won this one. My mom was my partner. What made me the winner was not only were all my body parts right on target, I made my baby a boy (if you catch my drift). We all could not stop laughing.

Good luck to you in planning the games and best of luck to your sister!

Donna

Hi Marshie, my favorite baby shower is this:

Get a roll of toilet paper (your games can have a 'theme'), and -- hold on, is the mom still pregnant? i don't remember reading that. Anyways, if she is still pregnant then pass the roll of toilet paper around the room and have the other ladies pull off a length that they think will measure around the mama's tummy. fun, eh? the one who's lenght of tp is the closest fit wins.

I have always enjoyed games at showers!! One that was not mentioned yet was the blind-fold diapering contest! You blind fold the contestants, then give them each a small diaper (disposable are easier!) and a large baby doll or stuffed animal. Then, they have a race to see whom can diaper the baby the fastest and neatest! It can be a lot of fun to see the results afterwards.

Scattergories Baby Shower Style!

Letter B (For example)

Something that new parents fear...

A word for a color of poop!

One of the hardest things to feed a baby...

The name of a brand of baby clothing...

A girl's name...

A biblical girl's name..

A boy's name....

A biblical boy's name...

The name of a baby gear/furniture maker...

The name of an essential baby item...

An item you would find in a nursery...

An item you would find in a diaper bag...

Hope these reach you in time, and that you have a great trip!!

I can't believe you lost your cell phone, well your husband lost his phone. We only have one and yesterday my husband lost it. 2 years ago when I was in the hopital having #4 he drove away with it on the roof of the car....and we suspect yesterday the same thing happened. It's gone...my mom just moved and I don't even know her #. So we are in search of a new one on ebay, perhaps.....I hope you found a good game.....

I didn't realize that a lawn mower could chew up a cell phone. Wow! Have fun at the baby shower.

Just to let you know... I'm having another prayer list for Emily, who will be having surgery on Monday, April 24th. If you're interested in a committed time to lift her and the family in prayer, please stop by my blog.
